Jordan Thoms Ottawa, ON Obituary-Death

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Jordan Thoms, a beloved leader, friend, and pillar of Ottawa’s running community. His loss is felt profoundly by all who had the privilege of knowing him, running alongside him, and experiencing the warmth and encouragement he so freely gave.

As the dedicated run lead of the Sparks Street Run Club, Jordan was far more than an organizer — he was the heart and spirit of the group. He had a remarkable ability to bring people together, creating a space where runners of all levels felt welcomed, supported, and inspired. Whether it was someone’s very first run or part of a seasoned routine, Jordan made every individual feel seen and valued. His presence turned simple runs into meaningful connections.

Originally from Prince George, British Columbia, Jordan carried with him a sense of community that he shared effortlessly with others. He built friendships that went beyond the pavement, fostering bonds that will endure long after his passing. His kindness, positivity, and genuine love for people left an unforgettable mark on everyone he encountered.

Jordan was a cherished son to his mother, Marlene, and a beloved brother to Ryan Malchow and Garrett Thoms. The love he had for his family was evident, and the strength of those relationships shaped the incredible person so many came to admire. To his family, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. No words can ease the pain of such a loss, but may you find comfort in knowing how deeply Jordan was loved and respected by his wider community.

In honor of his memory, the upcoming memorial run stands as a testament to the life he lived — one rooted in connection, movement, and togetherness. It is a reflection of what Jordan built and the lives he touched.

Though he is gone far too soon, Jordan’s legacy will live on in every stride taken by those he inspired, in every new runner welcomed with kindness, and in every shared moment of encouragement along the way.

Jordan will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated.
